Teen Talk Tip of the Day: Homesickness is hard for teens and parents.

This Week We Focus on: Summer Camp

Welcome to Talking Teenage

Have you ever walked away from a conversation with your teen feeling completely confused?  Perhaps, you felt that the conversation was going well but your teen’s response suggested something else. Well, we are here to address your concerns. Welcome to Talking Teenage!

Our website is intended to serve many purposes. We will be posting articles about the “hot” teen topics and providing insights about parenting teens on our blog. We invite you to sound off on our Discussion Board by sharing your concerns, success stories, and ideas.

Who We Are

Dr's Barbara R. Greenberg, & Jennifer A. Powell-Lunder are clinical psychologists specializing in work with teens and their parents. Through our own experiences we have listened and learned from the teens in our lives. Keeping in mind this ongoing base of knowledge we will act as interpreters, psychologists, teachers, and students of teen language and interactions in an effort to help you navigate the teen years as enjoyably as possible.

We wanted to let you know about two awesome updates to our site! First, we have added a new page entitled: Media Madness. On this page, we will be reviewing everything from music to movies, to TV shows to webcasts. If your teens are into it, we plan to check it out. Feel free to email us about teen targeted media we should be reviewing.

Second, we wanted to let you know we have reformatted our Parents Rock! page to make it easier for you to share anecdotes about why/ how some amazing parents you know rock. We can't wait to read your posts.

The Question of The Week: At what point do you bring a homesick child home from sleepaway camp? Please post your responses on our discussion board.

This is an opportunity for you and your teen to offer insights regarding the teen issues everyone seems to be talking about. Each week we will post a new question and invite you and your teens to respond. The following week we will provide a summary which highlights both your responses and your teens’ responses and post a new question. Our hope is to enlighten you about just how close or far apart parents and teens are regarding these important topics.  By sharing these perspectives you will feel more confident in your own role as parent, guide, and confidante to your teens.

Results of Last Week's Question of the Week:

What is it about your relationship with your teen that you keep secret?

Thank you once again for being authentic and real. Parents feel out of control sometimes and feel like they have either lost their sense of authority or sense of emotional control. We promise to devote a week to this topic very soon.

Post your replies on our Discussion Board.
